soyez bienvenue

so here we are. in france. after a hugely long journey today and a fairly stressful day yesterday, we are now around an hour and half away from Avignon.
and good news! before we left england on wednesday, i managed to call a man named jean-pierre in france and spend £8 of my credit finding out my schools. at last! i can now fully concentrate on finding somewhere to call home for the next 7 months. i'm going to look at a studio flat in avignon tomorrow, and i'm quite excited. i haven't seen any photos yet, so i really hope it's liveable. it should be.
we also bought a french phone that i can use for the year yesterday. got a really good deal from Bouygues (any ideas on how that is pronounced?) - 69€ for a nice little samsung with all mod cons, plus i got a voucher that i can send off to get 30€ back from bouygues after i have an address and a bank account. amezin! we've been using it so far to call hotels and things. it's been very useful. top buy.

this is the view i woke up to this morning in reims. absolutely glorious blue skies, plus there was a nice farmers' market going on in the street below. we avoided the expensive hotel breakfast and sat outside at a nice café and ate croissants and jam in the sunshine. i really could get used to this...
