"vous êtes en champagne/beaujolais/côte du rhone"... better drink it up then!

we're here!! settled comfortably into the holiday house i'm in with my parents for the next two weeks in Villeneuve lez avignon. Its nice here, very quiet and very rural, but actual avignon seems to be really nice. we drove through avignon today to get to the flat viewing, through loads of narrow one way streets. i saw loads of lovely little cafés and shops selling all kinds of things on our way. i doubt i will ever be able to find them again though - it seems to be the kind of place that you could very easily get lost in!
the studio we visited was nice, and i think it could be spruced up quite a lot and made into a nice home. It is on a pedestrian street, just off a main square that has cafés in, and is next to a huge indoor market that we'll hopefully explore some time soon. the location is top knotch, and it's relatively cheap rent (320€ sans edf), so i think if i can't find anywhere else better fairly quickly i will go for it. the only slight problem is that at the moment, it doesn't have any internet connection, but being right in the centre of town i'm sure i could sort something out quite easily. mainly, i'm just really excited to start settling in and making a home for myself here. i could see myself living in the place we visited today.
i got a text this morning from a lady whose job it is to 'welcome me' into the community. i have to be at school at 8h30 monday morning! tomorrow i really need to find out where school is, so as to avoid as much stress as possible at that hour of the morning.
finally, my mum said "i can't believe we're leaving you behind" to me this evening, and honestly, i hadn't really thought about it. but now i can't stop thinking about it, and it seems quite scary. i can't believe it either. still, home's only a 2hr plane journey away...
